It's not about building robots.

It's about building good people – people who will go on to be leaders in their various professions; people who will change the world.

Welcome to the online home of the Whidbey Island Robotics Club. We work with students in and around beautiful Whidbey Island, Washington to promote interest and proficiency in science, technology, engineering, and math by supporting FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics teams for students from kindergarten through 12th grade. Our flagship team is FIRST Robotics Competition Team 2980, The Whidbey Island Wildcats, based at Oak Harbor High School. We also support three FIRST Tech Challenge Teams and numerous FIRST Lego League teams across Whidbey Island.

While FIRST competitions are robotics contests, for us, the FIRST Robotics Competition is not only about building robots. It's about building good people--people who will go on to be leaders in their various professions; people who will change the world. Our teams and our students not only use their technical skills to build competitive robots, but they also use those skills to give back to and improve their community through outreach and service projects.
