LEGO Robotics Camps!

Our annual LEGO camps are coming up on the weekend of 5/9 and weekend of 5/16! In these camps, kids will learn how to build and code robots, and then create their own to compete in an epic competition. If you know a kid who likes STEM or robotics, make sure to invite them!

Offseason, website changes

Although officially 2980 is in offseason, in practice our 2027 season has already begun. Our doors are welcome to those who want to learn robotics skills or join the team.

We're also currently trying to overhaul this website with new information and some new graphics. Some of what you'll find here might be out of date, and some of it might not look the cleanest.

WHAT WE DO

The Whidbey Island Robotics Club is an organization fully devoted to helping our community and advancing STEM education!

We work with students in and around beautiful Whidbey Island, Washington to promote interest and proficiency in science, technology, engineering, and math by supporting FIRST Robotics teams for students from kindergarten through 12th grade.

Our flagship team is FRC Team 2980, the Whidbey Island Wildcats, based at Oak Harbor High School. We also support four FIRST Tech Challenge Teams and numerous FIRST Lego League teams across Whidbey.
TEAM 2980 AT DISTRICT CHAMPS
Last FRC season, the Wildcats made it all the way to the world championship in Houston, Texas after being given the Engineering Inspiration award at the PNW District Championship for their work helping the community!

While FIRST competitions are robotics contests, for us, the FIRST Robotics Competition is not only about building robots. It's about building good people--people who will go on to be leaders in their various professions; people who will change the world. Our teams and our students not only use their technical skills to build competitive robots, but they also use those skills to give back to and improve their community through outreach and service projects.
