Haptic Baseball Cap

Our team members have developed a Haptic Hat for blind students that allows them to have a sense of direction and to detect obstacles. The hat uses Arduino micro PCs, vibrating motors, and range finding sensors, providing distance and direction information allowing people to move more independently.
In 2020, our members were asked to present a TEDx Talk about the importance of helping others. As they were preparing their presentation, they met a man who had suffered brain damage and had trouble with his depth perception. Hearing about his condition, our team talked with him and created a laser attachment for a cane, which projects patterns to help him with his depth perception.
