Micro Homes

In 2018, we expanded our community outreach and tested our members' technical skills with our most ambitious project to date. At the start of the school year, we presented a challenge - create a complete design for a micro home that can be built and then donated. Our students rose to the challenge and created a design for a fully functional micro-home, including a sleeping area, work space, kitchenette, shower, and functioning toilet. We built 2 of the homes based on our students' design and donated both to Ryan’s House, a local organization for homeless youth.
Inspired by our project, our high school created a Geometry in Construction class to give students opportunities to utilize what they learn to help others. Micro-homes are now being designed and built by students within our CTE department, changing the culture and curriculum of OHHS & showing our larger impact of creating a culture of service and leadership in our community.
