Team News

November 5 and December 3, 2023 - For the first time, our Club was asked to host an official FIRST event. The FTC Knuth League needed a home, and we were lucky enough to have a facility that was available on the right dates. Thank you to our wonderful volunteers and Mr. Thayer for pulling two events together at the last minute, both of which went off without a hitch. Hopefully, we'll get to have more events at home in the future.

May 13, 2021 - Our lead mentor and team founder, Mr. Edoga, was honored as the Woodie Flowers Finalist Award winner at the FIRST Pacific Northwest Regional finals. The Woodie Flowers award is a student-nominated award given to one individual across the entire Pacific Northwest Region. It is awarded to a mentor who inspires students through clear communication, creativity, and  enthusiasm. Even though the region had more nominees for this award than in most years, Mr. Edoga's long efforts in founding and leading our team, encouraging development of our members as they work on robots and community projects, and in establishing our team as a vital part of our community made him this year's honoree for the highest honor that can be awarded to a FIRST mentor. Thank you to our wonderful students who wrote a remarkable 3,000-character essay on Mr. Edoga's behalf. And, thank you Mr. Edoga, for 14 years and counting of incredible work with and for our team.

April 7, 2021FIRST Washington held the award ceremony for its first round of Dean's List and Chairman's Award judging. While the judging and ceremony were both held remotely, this was the equivalent of awards that would be given at District-level events. Of 113 teams participating in the Pacific Northwest this season, seven teams were awarded District Chairman's Awards. And, of 63 individual students nominated for the Dean's List Award, only fourteen students were named Dean's List Semi-Finalists. Team 2980 was one of the seven teams awarded a District Chairman's Award, and Isaac Schulz was one of the fourteen students named a Dean's List Semi-Finalist. Both our team and Isaac move on to compete at the Pacific Northwest Regional finals. Congratulations team and Isaac!
